The collaboration between Diadora, storied Italian brand with strong sport DNA, and Danilo Paura, iconic Italian designer from the sartorial streetwear world, proceeds in FW20 with a special new Paura X Diadora capsule. Paura always takes his creativity to the next level by adapting his message to outside influences and modern day happenings. In designing his clothes, Danilo uses a diverse and holistic approach where a mix of arts and inspirations meld into a singularly unique style. The FW20 Paura x Diadora capsule is a tribute to Diadora’s sport DNA, as this time Danilo is inspired by Italian basketball in the 1970s and ‘80s, decades which were quite symbolic for the brand on the hardwood court. In particular, Danilo Paura offers a fresh take on the uniforms of the three most outstanding Italian basketball teams back then (Milano, Roma and Venezia), presenting a Made In Italy capsule of clothing and sneakers that’s effectively a nod to the uniforms and the graphic elements of those years. All for a metaphorical journey through Italy and through the country’s heritage of exclusive workmanship. The clothing items consist first and foremost of a revisitation of the emblematic coach’s uniform: namely, a hoodie, a crewneck sweatshirt and sport pants in 420gr brushed cotton in the color gray. Making for a contemporary alternative are a crewneck and a garment dyed tee — ever a Paura signature — along with a pair of relaxed fit chinos. Meanwhile for true players there are three monochromatic sets, including one fine for urban living complete with tone on tone graphics capturing a vintage preppie flair. All are versatile items in 100% cotton for total comfort. As for the capsule’s sneaker, it’s the iconic Milano Basket which Diadora created in 1984 specifically for the famous Milano basketball team, which through the years has made an important mark in the history of Italian basketball. Subsequently taken from the Diadora archives and reintroduced in lifestyle mode, the sneaker now comes in a low version with full grain leather upper and furry ponyskin leather trim. There are three different variants here, in perfect sync with the ready to wear: a white one with red detailing, dedicated to the Roma team; and then a white one with beige detailing and a white one with black detailing, respectively for the Venezia and the Milano teams. The FW20 Paura x Diadora will begin retailing in select boutiques and in the world’s leading sneaker stores starting October 30th.
